Imagine Dress – Sewing contest

When Louis Antoinette launched the 2 session of the #hacklamode sewing contest I could only think of participating in it. The rules are easy, you download their Imagine dress for free and and send a picture showing your version before December 4th (you still have time if you want to participate!)

I loved the dress, although its sleeves are not my preferred. It took me a while to decide which fabrics to use, knowing that the back could be nude or with a different fabric than the main one. I decided to choose a sparkly jeans fabric with a shiny pink faux leather to contrast the back. I think the mix of two looks really nice and they both can be wore either on an everyday style or a more night style, depending on the accessories you wear them with.

As for the sleeves, I decided to change them into short sleeves, otherwise I wouldn’t use the dress that much in cold Amsterdam. I added a boxed pleat to the sleeves to match the overall pleats of the dress. sewing-contest-louis-antoinette-hacklamode

And I changed the boxed pleats on the front skirt to a more casual knife pleats. To match the back, I made the front pockets in the same shiny pink faux leather.sewing-contest-louis-antoinette-hacklamode

I really had fun making this dress and hacking it a little bit to better fit my taste and style.

And I submitted my version yesterday to the sewing contest. So now it time for voting! If you want to give me that little extra vote that will definitely count for me, just click here and like my picture! You will see a little heart underneath it where you have to click!

Many thanks in advance! sewing-contest-louis-antoinette-hacklamode

  1. It looks great, bright and shinny. The color blocking is a nice detail. The dress suits you well.
